On
astrological speculations, it was found that the decision
of the King to imprison the elders of the Arathil Candoth
family has incited the anger of Arathil Bhagavathi and
that she has triggered off the inauspicious incidents
in the Royal family expressing her displeasure over
the kings decision. And the astrologers forwarned the
King that similiar fate will befall the King if her
ventures against the Arathil Candoth family with his
evil designs.
After some time when the King, as a
gesture of reconcilliation with the Arathil Candoth
family offered to give them the ruling powers over the
place where the ancestrial house was situated.the family
elders vehemently rejected the offer and retaliated
that they need no favours or charity from the King and
added that as long as they have the protection from
their family deity, they need not have to stoop in front
of anybody else, least of all the king himself.
By the grace and providence of the
Goddess, some of the family members had acquired education
from the universities of Nalanda and Thakshashila. A
few lucky ones had even gained English knowledge also
well before the British ever came to India. And the
womenfolk of the family were well conversant with the
Sanskrit Scholars and eminent men of letters among the
family members. The family of this glorious period it
was said was even capable of building an empire at that
time with all their might and resources.
Different units of the family were
found spread upon the area between Eranholi Panchayath
and Venduttayi. It had a pen for the sheep, built in
an area of 2 acres on a plot that was called the "Attalaparambu".
It had plenty of cattle and sheep and even had many
elephants and horses as the wealthy and dominant families
those days maintained as status symbols.these were all
acknowledged as the gift of the goddess. Among that
generation there was a Munsiff who was working in Tellicherry
Civil Courts and also had well known Advocates and Astrologers.
When the British came and had interactions with the
family as a matter of convenience they usd to address
this family as "A- Candeth" |
