history

This glorious family that was star studded with famous austere men, started with famous and austere men, started its eclipse as a generation usurped their place among whom there were men who were hankering after only wordly pleasures, never bothered in the upkeep of the temples and perform its chores.

Reaching the nadir or disintegration, naturally the family members contemplated the partition of the family property. The partition took place, conveniently without making reserves for the maintenance of the Temples. Many members squandered the wealth they got, within no time.

As time fleeed by, the day-to-day affairs of the Bhagavathy who brought all the wealth and prosperity tot this family also came to a standstill. The Bhagavathy Temple remained closed for a long 16 years without its regular poojas and other religious rites. But the people of the locality, who also once upon a time benefited by this reigning Bhagavathy came faorward and took initiative to resume the poojas though if fits and starts and they even conducted the temple festival annually.

After a few years, the Arathil Candoth family members themselves came forward to form a committee by name Arathil Bhagavathy Kshetra Samrakshana Trust and conducted a "Swarnaprashnam" after which they resumed the maintenance of the Temple after carrying our due atonements, renovations and re-installations.

Sufficiently pleased with the family members who have come forward to resume the responsibility of the Temple affairs, Arathil Bhagavathy and her associate deities blessed the family to have the absolute control of the Temple. The poojas at the Temple are being performed by the Namboothiris of Keezhara illam now.
